The temple of Gom Kora is set on a small alluvial plateau overlooking the river. It is one of the famous places where Guru Rinpoche meditated in order to subdue a demon who dwelt in a huge black rock. Gom Kora Tsechu is one of the major celebration. It is 24 km from Trashigang.

What to Expect

Tashigang is the largest district in the country, situated in the far east of Bhutan, on the bank of Gamri Chhu River. It is about 100 Km from Mongar and enroute is famous Kori La. Tashigang is the junction of east-west highway with road connecting to Samdrup Jongkhar and then to the Indian States of Assam. In the past Tashigang was the centre of a busy trade route with Tibet. Today, the town is used as market place for the semi nomadic people of Merak and Sakteng.
