What to Expect

Trashiyangtse is one of the newest dzongkhags (district) in the country, established as a district in 1992 and spans 1,437 sq.km of sub-tropical and alpine forests. In olden times Trashi Yangtse was the gate way between Tibet and the neighbouring Indian states, via Arunachal Pradesh.

With its wealth of natural, historical and cultural resources, one can still see ruins everywhere, now covered with thick forest in Trashi Yangtse. Blessed by Guru Rinpoche, Trashi Yangtse has many pilgrimage sites unknown even to many Bhutanese. The Trashi Yangtse people are known for making wooden bowls and containers, which are said to be the best in Bhutan.

Day 2Hike to Taktsang Monastery

★ After breakfast, hike uphill to the famous Tiger’s Nest temple (1,000m ascent)
★ Before dinner, meditate with a monk at your resort and bless you with a peaceful journey onwards.

★ Enroute to Thimphu, stop at Iron-Chained Bridge
★ Visit National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Point, 13 Arts and Craft School and Heritage Museum
